Aosta Valley and heroic viticulture

Let’s start form the denomination of heroic viticulture: according to Cervim (Centre for Research, Environmental Sustainability and Advancement of Mountain Viticulture), criteria that identify mountain viticulture are as follows:

Just by saying that our wines are heroic, doesn’t express the real motivation why the quality is excellent. Aosta Valley’s weather conditions combined with the peculiar characteristics of the soil and sun exposition are all the aspects that should be considered during the evaluation of our wines.

Recovery and promotion of viticulture in Aosta Valley lead to a top-rated and awarded wine selection, grouped in Denominazione di Origine Protetta Valle d'Aosta - Vallée d'Aoste (Protected Denomination of Origin of Aosta Valley), sub grouped in 7 denominations: Morgex – La Salle, Enfer d’Arvier, Torrette, Nus, Chambave, Arnad – Monjovet, Donnas.

Saint-Christophe

The characteristic town of Saint-Christophe (614 m a.s.l.) is situated in a panoramic position at the east gates of Aosta. From the heights above the village, the view sweeps over some of the most beautiful peaks of Aosta Valley, among which it is possible to enumerate the Ruitor glacier, the Grivola, the Becca di Nona, the Emilius, and the Dames de Challant. The partly hilly plot of land is located with sunny exposition, particularly suitable for the cultivation of the renowned vines from which we obtain our valued wines: Chardonnay, Cornalin and Syrah.
